Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk will ensure that the assigned day-to-day workflow is processed in a consistent and timely manner, attain cross-functionality, and provide backup for other accounting functions.

Essential Functions

1. Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
2. Collect outstanding receivables through telephone and written communication daily.
3. Determine importance of issues learned from contact with customers and relay information to proper department for resolution.
4. Escalate overdue AR for additional collection efforts.
5. Analyze outstanding list and report to Supervisor with updated data.
6. Investigate and resolve issues interfering with the proper application of cash receipts, including inadequate (or missing) information on checks.
7. Provide follow up on identified issues and discrepancies.
8. Meet all daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines in the cash application process.
9. Prepare and interpret financial summaries and provide reports to management.
10. Verify and total accounts to ledgers and databases.
11. Maintain and generate reporting to identify delinquent accounts and other collection measurements.
12. Process journal entries and reconcile bank statements in comparison to general ledger.
13. Review and balance internal accounts, analyze variances, and prepare appropriate reports.

Education/Experience Required

1. Associate’s or higher degree      in accounting or related field strongly preferred
2. 5+ years of proven      accounting experience preferred

Skills Required

1. Knowledge of basic financial and accounting principles
2. Natural proficiency with math
3. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office with aptitude to learn new systems
5. Ability to use a phone, photocopier, computer, and other electronic business tools and related software.
