We're looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Jacksonville Office and support the day-to-day financial operations that keep our organization running smoothly. Why You'll Love This Role
As an Accounting Specialist, you'll work across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, and insurance agency accounting. You'll help keep financial processes organized and accurate, partner with teams and vendors to resolve discrepancies, and support the reporting and close activities that keep the business moving forward.
What You'll Do
You'll play a hands-on role in our daily accounting operations:
- Manage accounts payable from invoice review and coding through approvals, payments, vendor communication, and discrepancy resolution.
- Handle accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment application, collections, account monitoring, and balance reconciliation.
- Process payroll and employee payments accurately and on time, maintain supporting records and journal entries, and respond to payroll questions.
- Support compensation administration, including commissions, bonuses, and reimbursements.
- Assist with insurance agency accounting, including commission and contingent revenue administration, direct bill activity, and specialized reporting.
- Perform daily cash management, deposits, account monitoring, and bank and transaction reconciliations.
- Research and resolve differences involving billing, payments, cash receipts, commissions, and account balances.
- Support month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, audit preparation, compliance documentation, and internal controls.
- Partner with internal departments, vendors, and outsourced accounting resources to maintain accurate financial processing and records.
- Contribute to special projects, provide backup support to the accounting team, and help improve day-to-day processes.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.
- Property & Casualty license preferred. If not currently licensed, the ability to obtain the license within six (6) months of hire is required.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management.
- Confident analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and address issues proactively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional, approachable style with employees, vendors, clients, and team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and take ownership of responsibilities.
