Activities Instructor

Job Purpose: The After School Club Instructor’s job is to plan, organize, communicate and instruct engaging after school programming for his or her assigned club. 

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

The After School Club Instructor will fulfill the following responsibilities:

Instruction:

• Plan and instruct challenging, informative and engaging after school club sessions and related events.


• Provide all necessary equipment and supplies to ensure best experiences, training and outcomes. Necessary After School Clubs equipment and supplies are to be purchased and provided by Tahoe Expedition Academy.


• Teach students in a positive way; which cultivates learning, confidence and active engagement. 


• Mitigate risk by following best practices and by understanding individual student health and medical needs.


• Work with Tahoe Expedition Academy’s Activities Director or Manager in a timely manner to ensure the above and related programming goals are met. 

Communication:

• Communicate club schedules, logistics and what to bring to students and parents in advance - in a timely and professional manner. Example: Provide weekly schedules and logistics 24 hrs or more in advance of the upcoming club activities week.


• Use assigned communication tools (ex: ParentSquare) to communicate to students and parents electronically. 


• Should needs arise, please communicate and work with Tahoe Expedition Academy’s Activities Director or Manager.

Professionalism:

• When issues arise (behavioral, emotional, psychological, family crisis, community crisis, etc.) be active in addressing the issues with Tahoe Expedition Academy’s Activities Director or Manager in a supportive role.


• Be punctual and diligent about fulfilling prep duty and other time-sensitive obligations.


• Identify and regularly participate in professional development opportunities that promote self-efficacy and the development of one’s skill set.


• If necessary, pass associated club required certifications and education criteria, work with Tahoe Expedition Academy’s Activities to ensure certifications are current and accepted by school and/or league. 


• Exhibit positivity about Tahoe Expedition Academy, Staff, Parents and Students.


• Devote a reasonable amount of time to understanding Tahoe Expedition Academy internal processes and procedures. 


• Devote a reasonable amount of time to completing additional duties like planning and parent-coach check ins. 


• Agree to and abide by the expectations outlined in the Tahoe Expedition Academy Employee Handbook.

Minimum Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:  

• Teaching experience and/or related professional experience.


• Strong interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work well with a team and independently.


• Evidence of professional development in teaching, expertise and club relevant work.
