Job Description - Actualization Analyst

Actualization Analyst

At Atlas Oil, the details move the business forward. As an Actualization Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in turning physical commodity movements into accurate, actionable data that supports settlement, financial accuracy, and confident decision-making across the organization.

This is more than a data-entry role. You’ll own the actualization process for assigned physical transactions, connect the dots between Operations, Commercial, Accounting, Treasury, terminals, carriers, and other partners, and help ensure every movement is complete, documented, and ready for settlement. If you’re energized by working with complex data, solving discrepancies, and keeping time-sensitive processes on track, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced energy environment.

Job Description

The Actualizations Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely actualization of Atlas Oil’s physical commodity transactions. This role owns the process of gathering, validating, and entering actual movement data and associated costs into RightAngle so that physical transactions are complete, accurate, and ready for settlement.

The position works closely with Operations, Commercial, Accounting, Treasury, terminals, carriers, and other internal and external stakeholders. The analyst supports actualization for crude, natural gas liquids, refined products, and other assigned physical transactions and serves as a key control point between physical movements, operational documentation, RightAngle, and downstream settlement activity.

Responsibilites and Duties

  • Own the end-to-end actualization process for assigned physical commodity transactions, from gathering movement information through completion in RightAngle.

  • Collect, review, and validate actual volumes, movement dates, products, locations, transaction details, and other required data for physical movements.

  • Enter and maintain actual volumes, movement details, and applicable settlement attributes in RightAngle accurately and within required deadlines.

  • Identify, validate, and enter appropriate secondary costs for physical movements, including tariffs, PTOs, and other associated fees, using supporting documentation and applicable trade terms.

  • Coordinate with Operations, terminals, carriers, schedulers, and other stakeholders to obtain complete and timely actual movement information. Reconcile actual volumes and movement data to RightAngle, scheduling information, meter tickets, bills of lading, statements, and barge or vessel documentation.

  • Track missing, incomplete, or inconsistent actualization data and follow up with the appropriate stakeholders through resolution.

  • Identify, document, and communicate discrepancies in volumes, movement dates, pricing inputs, trade terms, supporting documentation, secondary costs, or other actualization data.

  • Investigate actualization variances and anomalies, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate internal or external contact.

  • Validate book-out transactions and daisy-chain information against applicable scheduling records and RightAngle.

  • Ensure actualized data and supporting documentation are complete and accurate before the applicable settlement cycle.

  • Support monthly settlement and period-end activities by providing accurate actualized data, reconciling open items, and explaining variances.

  • Communicate unbudgeted movement costs to the appropriate stakeholders and escalate price-related matters to the Commercial Analyst responsible for the applicable book.

  • Prioritize actualization activity based on settlement deadlines, materiality, payment terms, and the nature of the physical movement, including higher-value barge and vessel activity.

  • Maintain complete, organized, and auditable actualization files, including movement support, secondary-cost documentation, reconciliations, correspondence, and approvals.

  • Identify opportunities to improve actualization controls, RightAngle data quality, documentation, reporting, and process efficiency.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, supply chain, energy, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience in commodity actualization, settlements, energy operations, accounting, trade support, or a related function.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with large data sets, formulas, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies in volumes, movement data, documentation, secondary costs, and settlement calculations.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize recurring work in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams, service providers, and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to protect confidential commercial and financial information.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with RightAngle or another energy trading and risk management system;

  • Knowledge of physical crude oil, NGL, refined-products, pipeline, truck, barge, vessel, or terminal transactions.

  • Familiarity with movement statements, meter tickets, bills of lading, book-outs, daisy chains, tariffs, PTOs, and other physical-movement costs.

  • Experience working with Operations, Commercial, Accounting, Treasury, or other cross-functional teams in a commodity trading environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, determine root causes, and follow issues through resolution.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a professional office environment and requires regular collaboration with internal teams, service providers, terminals, carriers, and other stakeholders. Actualization deadlines may require the analyst to manage multiple priorities and respond promptly to time-sensitive data and documentation requests.
