Saint Joseph's University's Department of English and Writing has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester at SJU's Lancaster campus. Course assignments will likely focus on first-year writing courses. Please submit a cover letter, cv/resume and statement of teaching philosophy with your application.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide support and guidance to students.
Instruct an assigned course providing syllabi and other instructional materials.
Use the university learning management systems to deliver instruction.
Hold regular office hours.
Report mid-semester and final grades electronically.
Participate in departmental course assessment as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
Master's Degree in English or related field.
Previous teaching experience at the college or university level.
Preferred
ABD or terminal degree in Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, or Creative Writing.
Facility with online modes of instruction (hybrid, remote synchronous, asynchronous).
Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.
Physical and Other Requirements
May require standing for long periods of time.
May require talking for long periods of time.
May require carrying course materials.
Modality:
Primarily in-person; online courses possible.
