Job Description - Adjunct Faculty, NH Literacy Institute

The NH Literacy Institutes are a series of graduate level summer courses in English, designed for practicing teachers to continue their learning and hone their craft through thoughtful, relevant coursework and collaboration. This position would require the professor to create coursework for two to three graduate credits, consisting of timely and engaging content meant to be delivered in an intensive environment.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create engaging content suitable for two to three credits of graduate work, aligned with the theme of the session.

  • Work with teachers of all different backgrounds and grade levels.

  • Lead lessons and demonstrate strategies to participants.

  • Conference with students individually and in groups.

  • Promote individual student ideas and foster independence in creation of lessons, writing units, etc.

  • Coordinate with the other Literacy Institute teachers and Staff to ensure all students are safe and able to thrive.

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Masters degree in education or English

  • Minimum of five years’ teaching in either upper elementary (grades 4- 6), middle school ELA classroom, or high school English classroom, plus experience teaching college level courses or workshops.

  • Valid teaching license required

Compensation Pay Range:

$5000 for 4-credit course
