Description
WSU Tech is seeking an Adjunct Faculty, Patient Care Technician to provide classroom and hands-on instruction in patient care skills. This position will support students preparing for careers in healthcare, with an emphasis on phlebotomy and EKG.
The ideal candidate brings current healthcare experience and a passion for helping students develop the technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and professional behaviors needed to succeed in the healthcare field.
Location: WSU Tech South
Compensation: $32/hr
Essential Functions
Provide classroom and hands-on instruction related to patient care, phlebotomy, and EKG procedures.
Demonstrate proper techniques, equipment use, safety practices, and infection-control procedures.
Create an engaging learning environment that supports students with varying levels of experience.
Evaluate student performance through assignments, skills demonstrations, exams, and other assessments.
Provide students with timely, constructive feedback to support their academic and professional development.
Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, and other required records.
Ensure instruction and laboratory activities align with program requirements, industry standards, and applicable healthcare practices.
Promote professionalism, patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical behavior in the learning environment.
Maintain current knowledge of healthcare practices, technology, and industry expectations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Current or recent professional experience in healthcare, phlebotomy, EKG, patient care, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience with phlebotomy and/or EKG procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate technical and clinical concepts to students.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
Experience working with students or adult learners in a classroom or laboratory setting.
Current industry credentials or certifications related to phlebotomy, EKG, patient care, or another relevant healthcare field.
Experience in a clinical healthcare environment.
Work Environment This position may include classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instructional activities. The adjunct faculty member will work directly with students to develop practical skills and prepare them for employment in healthcare settings.
