Position Summary
Lyon College invites applications for a dynamic, dedicated, and student-centered
Adjunct Instructor of Communication Studies to teach remotely or in person. We seek
an educator who is passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduates within a
rigorous liberal arts framework.

Course Load & Offerings
The selected instructor will be responsible for teaching courses that may include:
 Communication and Technology
 Media Law
 Organizational and Small Group Communication
 Other upper-level communication courses based on instructor expertise

Key Responsibilities
 Deliver high-quality instruction in assigned undergraduate Communication
courses.
 Foster an inclusive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating classroom
environment.
 Maintain regular, scheduled office hours to support student success.
 Provide constructive feedback and timely grading on student coursework.

Qualifications
 Education: Master's degree or higher in Communication Studies, Journalism,
Broadcasting, or a closely related field.
 Teaching Experience: Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate
level.
 Mentorship: A strong commitment to student advising, mentorship, and
supporting undergraduate academic development.
 Skills: Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.

 Pedagogy: Familiarity with, and commitment to, liberal arts education and its
student-centered pedagogical approaches.
