PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist the Probation staff in providing administrative support on cases assigned to the Cass County Probation Department by the State of Minnesota and Minnesota District Courts. To assist the Judges in planning, coordinating, and carrying out administrative matters for the Wellness Court.
WORK PERFORMED/JOB FUNCTIONS: On selected monitor cases position will require referral of, and insuring compliance with Court orders or State directives on assessments/evaluations, community service, restitution, notifying victims, etc.; to provide the general public, attorneys, representatives and other agencies associated with the criminal justice system information pertaining to non-traditional Probation cases; review case status off computer generated reports and update computer status on all conditions set forth by the Court or State referral agency; make contact with referred clients, Courts, and other agencies as necessary to insure the Court orders and State directives have been fully complied with; review files; assist Probation Department staff in other administrative actions as necessary to include general office work and maintenance of client files. Plans, implements and monitors the day to day activities of the Wellness Court; ensures the Court is implementing key components while serving the appropriate target population; oversee the Wellness Court budget and resources; grant writing; maintaining individual files on participants; compiling statistical data, preparing and submitting quarterly reports to the State and the Office of Traffic Safety; organizing event activities and organizing and facilitating interdisciplinary training for Wellness Court team members. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to serve the public and others in a courteous and professional manner. Must have a general knowledge of office practices and procedures; and, the ability to learn the procedures and functions, both manual and automated, of the Probation Department. Requires the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction. Must possess a knowledge base concerning the Courts, probation services, and treatment practices. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel within the criminal justice system and communicate effectively with others. Must have the ability to use general office equipment, personal computers and software, to include Windows 7, Microsoft Word, Excel, plus specialized programs.
MINIMUM TRAINING, EXPERIENCE OR CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, plus two to three years post high school training/education in the administrative/legal/general secretary or related field, computer skills, and record keeping. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Sedentary to light physical activities requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and close vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds. Typically in an office environment.
HOURLY RANGE: $27.77 - $36.46
