Anticipated Vacancy

Position serves as an Administrative Specialist I in the Alexander County Maintenance Unit. This is a support role with a significant concentration in records and reports, file management and public contact duties include completing and receiving administrative documents, answering phone, responding to the public, prepare and process reports, forms, documents, correspondence, filing and maintaining file system, handling/distribute incoming and outgoing mail, and act as a liaison with other state offices. Process fiscal documents such as invoices for payment, requisitions, Purchase Order Contracts.

Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, telephone, copier, fax, etc. Ability to learn and apply data into in-house computer programs such as SAP and the Beacon system. Administer payroll/time entry in SAP/BSIP system. This position will create requisitions and be responsible for monthly inventory audits and year-end inventory audits. Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral with the public and personnel. Ability to express ideas and information both orally and written. Ability to organize and maintain office files. Ability to check and correct correspondence when needed. Must have computer skills in MS Word, Excel & E-mail. Employee in this position will be expected to operate a motor vehicle

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range:  NC08 / $39,244.00 - $68,679.00

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel
  • Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports
  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws
  • Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and proofreading

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
