Description

Full-time, 30-40 hours a week, Monday-Friday

Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm, one weekend per month (Saturday 8am-12:30pm & up to 2 hours possibly on Sunday)

Rotating weekends and holidays. 

Benefited position after 60-day waiting period. 

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for interacting in a friendly and professional manner with patients and the public. Ensures accurate admissions process through up-to-date insurances, demographics and information for a positive patient experience.    

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Responsible for absence coverage as well as rotated weekend shifts
  • Consults with other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate quantity of forms, supplies, charts, and assembling patient admission packets.
  • Prepare doctor on-call schedule for each of the departments in the hospital. 
  • Refers patient to business office when financial arrangements need to be made.
  • Responsible to pre-register inpatient or outpatient scheduled admits.
  • Registers arriving patients for outpatient/inpatient/emergency services. 
  • Verifies patient’s legal name and correct spelling.
  • Inputs patient information via admissions software program.
  • Obtains necessary signatures, using both electronic and paper forms, of consent for treatment and insurance forms as well as advanced directives.
  • Prepares patient identification arm bands and places band on patient when appropriate.
  • Make patients aware of hospital policies and procedures, to include Privacy Policy and Financial Assistance.
  • Obtain updated and accurate insurance and demographic information from the patients or their representative.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of telephone console. 
  • Has a complete working knowledge of, extension identification, business, clinical and departmental functions, location of various hospital departments and service areas, general hospital procedures and policies, along with the names of administrative, departmental, and supervisory personnel.  
  • Has complete understanding of admission office role in the event of a local disaster and demonstrates ability to admit patients in accordance with disaster plans. 
  • Schedule appointments for ancillary departments if requested.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  • High School Diploma/GED  

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Admissions experience preferred. On the job training. 

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL MOTOR SKILLS: 

  • Ability to operate computer systems, talk in person on the telephone, hear in person and on the telephone, vision for close work, use of photocopier, fax machine, computer. 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with patients, clinic staff, physicians, hospital staff, and the general public.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Be able to Lift 20lbs. Requires setting, walking, standing, ability to be mobile, some bending, stooping, stretching and lifting, Requires eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires ability to move freely within the hospital setting to conduct job duties. 

Salary Description

$16.00-$24.00
