Actively participate in a full-time training program focused on understanding and speaking Ojibwe Language within a group setting.
Attend required training sessions and educational opportunities. (as a group)
Become a functional daily language user of the Ojibwe Language committed to conversing in the language in various settings.
Successfully complete language proficiency assessments as required by the program.
When directed, collaborate or assist other Tribal department/programs in planning and implementing language-based cultural activities such as Language immersion activities.
Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops (as a group).
Create a relationship to place while traveling as a group to places of cultural significance to the Fond du Lac Band.
Assist in efforts to revitalize the Ojibwe Language.
Assist in Ojibwe Immersion settings (OOG, Head Start, FACE, K-12)
Participate in and assist with language gatherings and other language classes in the area.
Organizes and maintains their own personal collection and list of effective language learning materials.
Become familiar with and recommend language learning resources to community members and other language learners.
Assists learners, students, community members, and staff with language engagement at language-specific community events and learning opportunities.
Contributes to language acquisition efforts and collective revitalization efforts and collaborates with staff of the Gegaanzongejig Ji-aabadak Ojibwemowin (Language Department) when needed.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
A valid Driver’s License issued in the US is required.
High school diploma, HSED, GED, or equivalent required
Experience and existing relationships with community partners and language programs is preferred.

Commitment to developing knowledge of Ojibwe Language, Culture, and History
Ability to work in an Ojibwe language learning environment where Ojibwe language is used as the primary form of communication.
Possess effective communication skills in written, verbal, and public speaking.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
