The Advice RN provides clinical & administrative support to clinicians & other healthcare team members to offer various healthcare services to patients as well as being responsible for overseeing the telephonic nursing advice services, providing leadership to the advice nursing team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in accordance with pediatric best practices.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs duties as an Advice Nurse including but not limited to responding to patient questions requiring simple to complex clinical knowledge & skills.
Provides limited education and coaching for patients within scope, including discharge information and responding to follow-up questions- instructs patients about prescribed medications and dosing.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to the pediatric advice nursing team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Supervise and participate in telephonic triage activities, ensuring the delivery of accurate, evidence-based advice to parents and caregivers.
Implement and monitor quality assurance measures for advice services, conducting regular reviews of advice calls, and providing constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Manager to develop and update policies and procedures related to pediatric advice services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the advice nursing team, healthcare providers, and other clinic staff to ensure seamless patient care.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Minimum
Associates degree in Registered Nursing
Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Work Experience
Minimum
Two years of clinical experience in pediatric care, with a focus on advice nursing.
Preferred
Pediatric patient care.
Licenses & Certifications
Minimum
Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers

Strong knowledge of pediatric health issues, treatments, and telephonic triage.

Knowledge of the evidence-based practice process.
Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements
Environmentally controlled medical office environment
Fast-paced setting with occasional high-pressure or emergent situations
Handling specimens of blood or body fluids, including secretions and excretions.
Exposure to various chemical agents typically used in a clinical setting.
Must be able to stand, stoop, walk, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods.
Work closely with others in a team setting.
Work hours subject to office needs to ensure coverage during all hours of operation
Frequent interaction with a diverse population, including team members, providers, patients, vendors, and other members of the public
Work Schedule
Work hours vary- all shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, call-outs.
Schedule based on patient volume and staffing needs.
Hours: 32-40 hours per week
Immunizations are a requirement for employment to help ensure a safe and healthy workplace by reducing the risk of communicable diseases. TCC requires proof of vaccination including MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Varicella, Influenza, and TB Screening.
