The EHS Advisor reports directly to the EHS Director to assist in the development and implementation of common EHS programs, policies, and processes. The right candidate will support daily EHS activities within assigned location(s). Duties could include incident investigations, regulatory fieldwork, data collection, compliance auditing, training, and emergency response. This role requires someone that is results-oriented and compliance-driven. This role will support Branch Sales and Distribution operations and requires someone who is able to support multiple locations in the Florida area, and is able to travel within the US 10-15% of the time. The role may be based out of Tampa or Orlando. Rare but occasional support for off-shifts may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with EH&S programs and policies at assigned locations
Consistently rotate through various work sites within close proximity to primary location
Investigate incidents and injuries, and assist with implementation of corrective actions and verify that they are sustained
Coach employees and managers on EH&S programs and policy interpretation
Collaborate with Operations counterparts to develop kaizens focused on engineering controls and integrated solutions
Perform highly detailed Risk Assessments
Research, collect, and analyze data
Prepare reports and presentations as needed
Develop and administer training to employees as directed
Support and conduct safety committee meetings with hourly team members
Consistently maintain internal incident management system for assigned locations and ensure all documentation is uploaded following an incident
Administer PIT post-incident protocol
Follow up on proactively reported safety concerns
Complete routine Gemba Walks and conduct various audits (Fire Extinguisher, Eye wash stations, AEDs, Fall Protection, 5S etc)
Conduct driver ride-alongs
Monitor First Aid supplies and PPE stock across multiple locations
Monitor daily forklift checklist completion
Maintain confidential information
Other duties as assigned
Nature & Scope:
Uses established procedures and works in designated location(s) under general supervision to perform assigned tasks
Makes recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues
Exercises sound independent judgement
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge and prior application of Federal OSHA regulations required.
Knowledge and prior application of State OSHA Plans, NFPA, DOT, EPA strongly preferred.
Basic understanding of OSHA Recordability required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Attention to detail, accuracy and effective problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking) and good interpersonal skills
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective organizational and time management skills
Excellent collaboration, facilitation, and team-building skills; ability to establish positive work relationships
Ability to apply sound judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job
Experience:
5+ years of applied EHS experience, preferably within a large manufacturing or distribution environment
Strong preference for prior first aid/first responder experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational, Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred; may consider 5+ years of relevant EHS experience
OSHA 30 certification required (or willingness to acquire certification)
CSHO, CSP, ASP, or other widely recognized certification highly preferred.
