The University of Notre Dame is seeking a highly trusted, strategic, and collaborative Advisor to the Vice President of Finance to serve as a key partner in advancing the priorities of the Finance Division and the University.

This is a unique opportunity for a professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy, communication, operations, finance, and organizational leadership. Working closely with the Vice President of Finance, the Advisor will help translate priorities into action, keep complex initiatives moving forward, strengthen communication and engagement across the division, and provide thoughtful analysis on matters of importance to University leadership.

The successful candidate will bring exceptional judgment, discretion, initiative, and organizational savvy. They will be equally comfortable preparing an executive-level presentation, leading a high-profile project, analyzing financial information, coordinating with senior leaders, or representing the Vice President on an important University initiative.

Because this role works across a broad portfolio of priorities, no two days will look exactly alike. The Advisor will have significant visibility across the University and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the effectiveness, culture, and strategic direction of the Finance Division.

What You'll Do

Serve as a Strategic Partner and Trusted Advisor

• Advise and support the Vice President of Finance on a wide range of strategic, operational, organizational, and administrative priorities.
• Help advance the Finance Division's strategic plan by coordinating annual goals, monitoring progress, identifying opportunities, and supporting execution.
• Represent the Vice President on committees, working groups, and University initiatives as appropriate.
• Research emerging finance topics, policies, legislation, and trends that may affect the University and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Lead and coordinate special projects of significant importance to the Finance Division and University, often involving sensitive or confidential matters.
• Build productive relationships with internal and external partners and help steward important strategic relationships on behalf of the Vice President.

Shape Executive Communications and Engagement

• Draft executive correspondence, announcements, communications, and other materials on behalf of the Vice President.
• Develop compelling presentations, briefing materials, talking points, and executive-level content for University leadership and the Board of Trustees.
• Help ensure the Vice President remains informed on significant internal and external developments.
• Coordinate Finance Division and leadership meetings, including agendas, key messages, employee recognition, and University or divisional updates.
• Oversee Finance Division digital communications, including websites and employee-facing resources.
• Help foster a connected and engaged Finance community through division events, professional development opportunities, community service initiatives, and other employee engagement efforts.

Provide Financial and Analytical Support

• Partner closely with Treasury leadership on operating cash management activities, including cash forecasting, daily cash positioning, credit facility activity, commercial paper, and payment instructions.
• Participate in discussions with financial partners regarding new products, services, and opportunities.
• Prepare analyses, presentations, and decision-support materials for executive leadership and the Board of Trustees.
• Provide analytical support for special projects and emerging priorities.
• Monitor division spending, identify potential budget issues or misallocations, and provide regular updates and insights to the Vice President.

Administrative and Organization Support

• Coordinate Senior Leadership Team meetings and annual retreats, including agendas, materials, logistics, and follow-up.
• Manage Board of Trustees subcommittee meetings, materials, communications, and related logistics.
• Oversee the Vice President's calendar and help prioritize meetings, commitments, and activities.
• Supervise the Office Coordinator and help ensure effective day-to-day operations of the Vice President's office.
• Lead or coordinate Human Resources-related initiatives across the Finance Division.

•  Bachelor’s degree 
• 3 to 4 years relevant experience 
• Masters degree preferred.
• Commitment to the University’s Catholic identity, mission, and values
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and written communication and technical skills required to interact with various internal and external constituencies. 

Salary: Commensurate with Experience
