Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Air Quality \u0026 Compliance Environmental, Health \u0026 Safety (EHS) Engineer to join our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Protection team in Sunnyvale, California. The selected applicant will be responsible for successfully implementing and managing environmental compliance programs with a strong emphasis on air quality permitting and regulatory compliance.\n\nKey roles and responsibilities include:\n\n * Reviews and interprets existing and proposed EHS regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites. Assists with implementation of programs to comply.\n\n * Partners with engineers, technicians, and management to support the integration of EHS into the design of new or altered processes, operations and building construction projects.\n\n * Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.\n\n * Performs chemical and material reviews for applicable environmental program compliance.\n\n * Supports and performs tasks for the following environmental compliance programs: Spill Prevention Controls and Counter Measures (SPCC), stormwater, Air, Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), Underground and Aboveground Storage Tanks (UST/AST), Pollution Prevention, Department of Transportation (DOT), sustainability, and hazardous waste management.\n\n * Completes audits, sampling, and assists in pollution prevention activities.\n\n * Conducts internal compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet local, state and federal regulatory requirements.\n\n * Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, and site employees.\n\n * Partners with management to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability in support of EHS programs.\n\n\n\n\nThe selected candidate will be able to:\n\n * Provide timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases, and regulatory agencies. \n\n * Write and update EHS plans and procedures.\n\n * Apply for new permits and renewals.\n\n * Coordinate EHS training for employees.\n\n * Manage and oversee third party consultants/contractors.\n\n * Recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.\n\n * Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s (BA or BS) degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field, and 8 or more years of experience; or a Master of Science (MS) in the same disciplines with 6 or more years of experience.\n\n * Experience leading/managing projects or continuous improvement initiatives.\n\n * Direct experience in implementing or supporting air quality permitting and compliance programs in California (e.g., BAAQMD, SCAQMD, or other California air districts).\n\n * Experience preparing or supporting air district regulatory inspections and permitting.\n\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance\n\n * U.S. Citizenship required\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Experience in any of the following areas: conducting incident investigations, inspections, personal protective equipment assessments, job hazard analysis, EHS training, other environmental compliance programs such as SPCC, stormwater, hazardous waste, SARA, CUPA, UST/AST, pollution prevention, DOT, or sustainability.\n\n * Professional certifications in EHS related programs (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).\n\n * Experience in implementing compliance programs related to air regulations in the state of California, particularly Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) rules and permitting.\n\n * Experience working with union represented employees and leadership.\n\n * Previous DoD, Military or Aerospace facilities experience.\n\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.\n\nThe application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
