ALTA Assistant Program Coordinator

Position Overview:

The ALTA Assistant Program Coordinator is an integral component of the delivery of Center of Life's (COLs) ALTA (Aspiring Leaders in Teen Academy) Program. The ALTA Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the management and quality assurance of all aspects of programming, including but not limited to supporting the Program Coordinator in the development of a high-quality program; contributing to program curriculum, lesson, and activity planning; and development of strong relationships with students, family, schools, work experience partners, and community partners. The position supports compliance with delivery of services to the educational ethical, and legal standards, as well as the core values and mission of Center of Life.

Primary Goals, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Administrative

• Support Program Coordinator in all aspects of quality of care, safety, and operation of the ALTA students


• Arrive on-time and prepared to work while bringing high energy to interact with students.


• Take the lead on New Hire Paperwork for ALTA students, including assisting them with their clearances, iSolved, work permits, any paper forms needed, etc.


• Organize and maintain files for all students, including paperwork requiring parent/guardian signatures


• Understand and enthusiastically instruct participating students in the curriculum and activities as needed


• Maintain detailed notes for one-on-one supervisory meetings with students and contribute to Apricot Case Notes as needed


• Assist students with homework completion


• Work with students to determine individual areas of interest/future pursuits


• Serve as a leader throughout programming, setting a positive example for students


• Be available and able to work during afterschool time during the school year (1-7:30 PM Monday – Thursday, September – May) and daylight hours during summer camp


• Communicate with Program Coordinator regarding ordering of any and all activity materials in a timely manner


• Supervise meal times and any other time designated for socializing


• Supervise students during off-site excursions (e.g. enrichment opportunities, work experience visits, school tours, etc.)


• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students throughout the duration of the program

• Oversee food provision to students in keeping with Food Bank/DHS administration guidelines


• Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communications as requested

Program Content and Development

• Assist the Program Coordinator with the implementation of scheduled activities, events, and lesson plans during program hours


• Understand and enthusiastically instruct participating students in the age-appropriate curricula/activities that addresses academic, social/emotional, and development gaps in student progress, including:
  
  
  
  • Academic subjects, Financial Literacy, Work Experiences, Community College & University Experiences/Visits, Entrepreneurship
  
  
  
  


• Provide feedback for lessons/activities to Program Coordinator


• Produce lesson plans in keeping with approved curriculum


• Collaborate with Program Coordinator to ensure that the learning environment of the room is as impactful to the students as possible
  
  
  
  • Specifically support student engagement during enrichment sessions, vibe sessions, and anything as needed.
  
  
  
  

Relationship Building

• Be willing and able to work with all students in grades 8-12


• Assist Program Coordinator in communications with parents of students


• Be a positive role model for all students throughout the duration of programming, including all meetings and field trips


• Lead by example by displaying a positive, enthusiastic, kind, caring, and supportive attitude and behavior at all times towards all children, parents, and peers


• Be aware of each student's diverse needs


• Participate in all enrichment activities/community partnership activities/visits when attending to manage student behavior and maintain position as student role model


• Display a positive and enthusiastic conduct towards the delivery of ALTA while also encouraging students to participate in all activities


• Build strong, healthy relationships with students that inspire academic performance and community connectedness while maintaining boundaries appropriate for working with teenagers


• Participate with all staff in maintaining the cleanliness and order of the teaching space

General COL Expectations

• Foster positive and healthy relationships with students, families, and staff; model excellent interpersonal relationship skills


• Maintain regular meetings with assigned students, including one-on-one supervisory meetings


• Participate as an active member of Center of Life staff


• Adhere to all of Center of Life's policies and procedures


• Attend all COL staff meetings, retreats, trainings, and mandatory events


• Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment


• Illustrate a commitment to the core values and mission of COL through work output

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older


• Must have High School diploma or GED equivalent


• Must have a valid PA State Driver's license


• Must obtain State, Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprint clearances, NSOR, mandated reporter training


• Must possess the ability to effectively communicate with kids ages 14-21 while also providing necessary instruction to students

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience working in Education or related field or in a role that has direct contact with kids aged 14-21


• Must be able to provide adequate help to multiple students at one time


• Must possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of students


• Must possess knowledge and skill in academic areas, including but not limited to math and reading
