American Sign Language Special Education Paraprofessional

Paraprofessional 1:1 (ASL Fluent) | Burnsville, Minnesota | $25–$27/Hour

A student’s ability to learn and participate can change when they have someone beside them who can communicate with them, understand their needs, and help them navigate the school day.

You’ll provide dedicated 1:1 support to a third-grade student, using American Sign Language (ASL) to help her communicate, access classroom instruction, participate in activities, and feel supported throughout the day.

What You’ll Do

• Provide 1:1 support to a third-grade student
• Communicate with the student using ASL
• Support communication between the student, teachers, staff, and others
• Help the student access classroom instruction, activities, and routines
• Provide personal care assistance when required
• Support the student’s safety, comfort, and participation
• Follow the student’s individualized education and support plans
• Assist with transitions and daily classroom routines
• Work with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel

What You Need

• Fluent in American Sign Language
• Must be hearing
• Ability and willingness to provide personal care to a female student
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
• Ability to work effectively with a special education team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience and ability to follow student support strategies
• Availability for the full assignment period and required schedule

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:45 AM–3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch
