Austin Peay State University invites applications for a full-time 9-month instructor position (three-year, renewable, nontenure contract role) for the Department of Biology. This position is face-to-face/in-person teaching starting July 30, 2027. Teaching may take place at the Clarksville and/or Ft. Campbell campuses. There may be opportunities for summer teaching.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach 24 workload credits (WLCs) per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) or approximately 12 workload credits per semester (roughly two lectures and two labs each semester).
Coordinate BIOL 2010/2011 Human Anatomy and Physiology I and BIOL 2020/2021 Human Anatomy and Physiology II courses, including keeping courses updated and current to meet departmental needs; maintaining common online platform courses (D2L learning module and Pearson’s Mastering A&P), syllabi, outlines, and other course materials to be shared with all Human Anatomy & Physiology instructors; completing and submitting general education assessments and other assessment activities of Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, and making changes as needed based on data collected; and carrying out other duties as needed to fulfill course coordinator role.
Supervise Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) and student workers who are teaching and prepping Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II lab sections; including working with GTAs to ensure that they are prepared to teach Human Anatomy & Physiology lab sections; serving as instructor of record for lab sections taught by GTAs who do not meet instructor of record requirements; ensuring all syllabus, gradebook, and grade/attendance submission requirements are met for all GTA taught sections; evaluating GTAs and adjuncts teaching A&P, and managing issues related to Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II labs, including student related issues.
Serve on/chair Departmental, College, or University Committees that are Relevant to Position
Work with the Faculty and Staff to promote recruitment, retention, and overall student success and to support departmental initiatives and success, including participation in departmental and other required meetings.
