QUALIFICATIONS


Required: Minimum of 3 years radiology clinical experience or scheduling with advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, radiology procedures and preparations. Extensive knowledge of Interventional procedures and sedation/anesthesia cases is required. A team player with proven success in applying a team approach to resolve issues or accomplish goals; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to interact effectively and in a timely manner with a wide variety of constituents.


Preferred: Epic EMR experience preferred.

Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and be able to move to patient care areas when needed.  Must be able to work under required deadlines and schedules, while being flexible to special requests and projects.  Must be able to work independently, as well as with others in a team environment.  Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently.  Must work well under stress.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Reviews and validates all imaging orders to ensure accuracy of diagnosis, referral, authorization, and dates of service.

  • Corrects and updates orders/referrals/authorizations as needed, maintaining clear, professional communication with patients, providers, and support staff.

  • Accurately transcribes and schedules imaging exams across all diagnostic and interventional modalities; maintains expected scheduling volume and departmental performance standards.

  • Demonstrates expert-level proficiency in all scheduling modalities, supporting cross-departmental needs and ensuring consistency of workflow.

  • Coordinates with nurse navigators, specialty program coordinators, and clinical teams to ensure accurate scheduling and continuity of care for complex or multi-phase patients.

  • Independently schedules multi-phase, invasive, and specialty exams.

  • Anticipates potential scheduling or workflow issues and provides proactive solutions and recommendations for improvement to department leadership.

  • Reviews program-related patient lists to confirm eligibility, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program and departmental guidelines.

  • Support and assist Ancillary Scheduler I and II staff in managing escalated calls or interactions with patients, providers, or other departments, maintaining professionalism and resolving issues effectively.

  • Works within billing and referral workqueues to identify inefficiencies or discrepancies, communicating findings and proposed corrections to the department manager or appropriate staff.

  • Troubleshoot complex scheduling, order, or authorization issues and collaborate with managers or providers to ensure resolution and workflow accuracy.

  • Serves as backup for the department lead in their absence, maintaining established expectations, performance standards, and workflow continuity.

  • Maintains strong working relationships with staff, providers, and hospital departments, demonstrating leadership through example.

  • Demonstrates adaptability, supports departmental projects, assists in process improvements, and performs other related duties as assigned.
