Job Description - Anticipated Opening - Dean of Students, Journey Program
Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavioral support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories for their lives.
We currently have an anticipated opening for a full-time Dean of Students for our Journey Program.
JOB GOAL
Provide direct academic, behavioral, and therapeutic support for the Journey Program students and staff, as well as assisting the Journey Administrative Team facilitate administrative duties on an as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct support to staff members in curriculum, classroom management, and effective leadership.
Mentor and council at-risk students and students in need of additional staff support.
Establish steps and procedures for handling challenging students and standards for conduct.
Oversee and supervise the management of student attendance and discipline records.
Utilize non-violent crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary.
Fill in for absent Teachers as needed.
Coordinate with the team to provide relevant professional development for the school community.
Collaborate with the Journey Administrative Team to assist with various administrative duties.
Develop and maintain a safe, non-threatening, and restorative environment where the students feel respected, accepted, and a part of the school community.
Assist with targeted inventions and disciplinary measures throughout the program.
Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
Employ restorative practices throughout the school community.
Assist with developing, administering, and maintaining program policies and procedures.
Remain current in subject and content area of instructional techniques.
Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree
PA Teaching Certification, preferred.
Experience working in education or a mental health setting, preferred.
Three (3) years work experience with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities, preferred.
Possess strong leadership skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills when dealing with parents, students, staff, and administration.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Positively represent and promote BHA to outside organizations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matter, including the dissemination of information regarding program development, staffing, and billing.
Work both independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team while maintaining professional boundaries.
