Apparel Production Coordinator / Production Control Coordinator

About the Company

We are a domestic apparel manufacturer located in Hauppauge, NY, specializing in the manufacturing of T-shirts and sweatshirts.

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Apparel Production Coordinator to help coordinate and track the movement of production from cutting through sewing and receiving finished goods back in-house.

This is an important hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working with computers and Excel, but also understands that manufacturing requires following the physical movement of product and staying in close communication with the people doing the work.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the movement of cut garments from cutting to sewing.
• Track production orders and quantities throughout the manufacturing process.
• Maintain accurate Excel spreadsheets showing production status, quantities and locations.
• Track what has been sent to sewing, what is currently in production, and what has been returned.
• Receive and record completed production back into the company's inventory/on-hand records.
• Reconcile quantities shipped to sewing against quantities received back.
• Identify shortages, discrepancies, delays or missing production.
• Follow up with sewing contractors and production personnel regarding outstanding work.
• Maintain accurate records of work-in-process (WIP).
• Help maintain production schedules and keep orders moving on time.
• Communicate daily with cutting, sewing and management regarding production status.
• Enter and update production information in Excel and other computer systems.
• Prepare simple reports showing outstanding production, completed production and on-hand quantities.
• Help identify bottlenecks and production delays before they become larger problems.
• Maintain organized production paperwork and records.
• Assist management with other production-control and inventory-related tasks as needed.

The Right Person

The ideal candidate is someone who is very organized, good with Excel, comfortable with computers and enjoys keeping things organized and moving.

You do not necessarily need to be a production manager. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the day-to-day tracking and coordination of production and make sure we always know:

• What has been cut
• What has gone to sewing
• What is still at sewing
• What has been completed
• What has been received back
• What quantities are outstanding
• What is currently on hand

The ability to notice discrepancies and follow up before they become problems is extremely important in this position.

Compensation

$52,000–$62,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Full-time, on-site position in Hauppauge, NY.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
• Comfortable working with computers and learning new software systems.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work with numbers and accurately track quantities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with production employees and outside sewing contractors.
• Must be comfortable following up with people and making sure work gets completed.
• Manufacturing, apparel or garment industry experience is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of cutting, sewing, garment production or production flow is highly desirable.
• Experience with inventory, work-in-process (WIP), production tracking or ERP systems is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple production orders at the same time.
• Must be dependable, proactive and able to work independently.
