We are currently looking for a full-time Architectural Designer / Draftsperson to join one of our client's teams and support a 6-to-8-month project producing apartment permit drawing sets for senior living communities across California.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong Vectorworks skills and solid experience in technical drafting for U.S. residential projects. This role focuses on applying established design standards, master specifications, and typical concepts to individual floor plans to help secure master permits across multiple municipalities. Working alongside an in-house project manager, you'll provide reliable, intelligent production support within a structured, month-to-month collaborative setup.

What you'll do:
Produce apartment permit drawing sets for senior living communities across California.
Develop and revise architectural drawings in Vectorworks.
Apply established design standards, master specifications, and typical concepts to individual unit floor plans (~60 units).
Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and permit documentation.
Ensure drawing sets comply with California state building codes.
Adapt documentation to meet local municipal requirements and variations.
Support the preparation of master permit submissions across various municipalities.
Incorporate redlines, markups, and project manager comments into drawing sets.
Maintain consistency with established office drafting standards and project documentation practices.
Review project information and reference drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Work closely with the in-house project manager regarding project progress, questions, and technical coordination needs.
Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Maintain clear, timely, and consistent communication with the internal team.
Use short screen-share recordings to ask questions or flag issues, minimizing unnecessary meetings.
Collaborate to ensure alignment, progress, and on-time delivery.
Provide regular updates and meet agreed-upon milestones while maintaining quality standards.
What you must have:
A degree in Architecture or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural production, including U.S.-based experience.
Strong Vectorworks proficiency (required).
Previous experience with U.S. residential projects, ideally single-family homes.
Experience producing permit drawing sets.
Working knowledge of state building codes and the ability to adapt to local municipal variations.
Strong technical drafting skills and attention to detail.
Advanced English level.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality.
Clear, proactive, and consistent communication.
A great plus:
Experience with multifamily or senior living projects.
Familiarity with the California Building Code (CBC) and Title 24 requirements.
Knowledge of accessibility requirements for residential and multifamily projects.
Experience with master permit processes across multiple jurisdictions.
Comfort working within a structured, standards-driven workflow with minimal supervision.
