Description

Position Summary: Exempt position directly responsible for the growth and management of Pike Electric’s operations.  The Area Manager will participate in job estimation and client development, and he/she will be expected to attend pre-bid meetings and to conduct client pre-construction meetings when necessary. The Area Manager will be responsible for the safety, efficient scheduling, and work quality of his/her crews. The qualified individual will possess the skills to oversee multiple work groups and should possess the drive and ambition to continue growing the assigned area of operation.


Essential Functions:

  • Manage Transmission Operations while acting as a liaison between corporate and field operations, as well as our clients. 
  • Promote the other service offerings of our business, such as engineering and distribution.   
  • Work closely with field supervision to ensure proper oversight of field crews.
  • Ensures compliance with Pike Electric safety policies and training.
  • All aspects of contract negotiation, bidding, estimating, change order identification, submittal and approval, administration, and establishing the means to execute the contract to include management of subcontractors and material procurement.
  • Effective management to ensure profitability and expected cash flow on all projects and master service agreements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years Electrical Utility experience strongly preferred.
  • Extensive travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work independently or with others.
  • Capable of following Company safety rules and policies.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
  • Must be capable of working in close proximity of energized equipment and facilities.
  • Must interpret construction drawings (i.e. elevations, plan views, section views, details, etc) and communicate with customers and subordinates.
  • Ability to accurately appraise technical situations and recommend resolutions to problems.
  • Ability to administer coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ability to develop and interpret a material list, bid packages, scope documents, schedules, and budgets required in work performance.
  • Proficient knowledge in all aspects of Transmission systems.
  • Perform employee evaluations.
  • Interview, hire, and terminate employees
  • Ability to interface with contractors, designers, vendors, and other parties connected with the project.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; operate tools and controls.

 

Work Environment: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
