Location: Riley Hospital Inpatient – Downtown Indianapolis 

Shift: Full Time Monday – Friday 8-4:30pm

Roles & Responsibilities:

Provides art therapy intervention through formal and informal treatment planning to aid patients and families with hospitalization, medical experiences, and mental health diagnoses. 

  • Practice Art Therapy in accordance with Indiana’s Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) guidelines, as well as other counseling, ethics and credentialing boards such as the ACA (American Counseling Association and ATCB (Art Therapy Credentialing Board).
  • Conducts formal and informal assessments to identify the individualized needs of patients and families.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family Art Therapy sessions, establishing both short-term and long-term treatment goals based on assessments and continuous observation.
  • Provide comprehensive Art Therapy services to address the psychological, cognitive, emotional, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Facilitates art therapy interventions to address treatment goals including but not limited to  creative expression, promotion of  positive coping to illness and hospitalization, non-pharmacological pain management, grief and bereavement support, anxiety reduction, depression reduction, decreasing stress, agitation and irritability and  enhancing quality of life.
  • Using strong relationship-building skills, therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to contribute to comprehensive treatment planning goals and ensure coordinated, holistic care. 
  • Completes appropriate and timely documentation of sessions, patient responses, and outcomes in accordance with established clinical and professional standards of practice. 
  • Supports program development, outreach efforts, and institutional initiatives, including student education and clinical training opportunities, as assigned. 
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to maintain current licensure requirements and expand clinical competencies.

 

 

• Requires 1-3 years of experience in art therapy. Requires a Master's Degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Certification in Arts Therapy or related social science (AATA or ATCB) field is preferred. Must be eligible for certification.
