Leading Edge is excited to expand our partnership with the Woodbridge Township School District for the 2026–2027 school year. As we continue to grow throughout New Jersey, we are seeking an Assistant Area Director to help lead multiple after-school programs and support our expanding team.


This position is open to both internal and external candidates who are passionate about developing teams, building strong school partnerships, and creating exceptional experiences for children and families.


Position Overview


The Assistant Area Director serves as a key operational leader supporting multiple after-school programs throughout the Woodbridge Township School District. Working alongside the Area Director, this role provides leadership and coaching to Site Directors and program staff while ensuring operational excellence, licensing compliance, and exceptional program quality.


Although this is a hybrid position, candidates should expect to spend the majority of their workweek supporting programs on-site across multiple school locations.


Key Responsibilities



  • Serve as a liaison between corporate leadership and assigned school locations through regular site visits.

  • Build strong relationships with school administrators, district personnel, families, and program staff.

  • Support, coach, and develop Site Directors and program staff.

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and employee development.

  • Hold team members accountable to performance expectations while fostering a positive team culture.

  • Ensure programs operate in compliance with company policies and New Jersey licensing regulations.

  • Monitor program quality through regular site visits, coaching, and operational audits.

  • Review and prepare semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time.

  • Maintain organized licensing records and operational documentation.

  • Support customer service initiatives and family engagement.

  • Assist with staffing coverage and operational needs as business demands require.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

  • Travel regularly between school sites throughout the Woodbridge Township School District.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with staff, families, and school partners.

  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and web-based software systems.

  • A positive, solutions-oriented mindset.


Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in education, childcare, youth development, recreation, or a related field.

  • Must meet and maintain all New Jersey childcare licensing requirements.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

  • Ability to travel between multiple school sites on a regular basis.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that supports before-school, after-school, meetings, trainings, and occasional special events.
