Assistant Director, Marketing and Engagement Analytics

Reporting to the Senior Director of Data Intelligence, the Assistant Director will support the execution of the Rutgers University Foundation’s (RUF) marketing and engagement analytics initiatives. This role plays an important part in producing accurate, timely, and actionable reporting to support data-driven decision-making across marketing, engagement, and fundraising. The Assistant Director will translate data into practical insights that help optimize campaigns, strengthen engagement activities, improve reporting, and inform day-to-day decision-making. 

Essential Functions 

 Leverage Salesforce data to optimize marketing campaigns and strategies to inform engagement activities. 

• Develop reports and analyses that provide actionable insights to support the Engagement team and broader RUF community.  

• Assist with developing and maintaining best practices for marketing data governance, measurement frameworks, and campaign analytics, ensuring alignment with Foundation-wide marketing and fundraising objectives.  

• Create and maintain dashboards and recurring reports that provide actionable insights into campaign performance, engagement trends, and stakeholder activity.  

• Collaborate with marketing, engagement, and fundraising partners to support the design, measurement, and evaluation of campaigns using data-driven insights. 

• Partner with Research and Prospect Management (RPM) and Systems and Technology teams to support data integrations, reporting structures, and data quality needed to achieve marketing and engagement goals.  

• Perform analytics and develop recommendations related to audience segmentation, predictive modeling, attribution analysis, and other marketing and engagement initiatives.  

• Identify opportunities to improve reporting, data quality, and analytics processes and recommend solutions to leadership.

Education and/or Experience 

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field; and/or 2+ years of professional experience in marketing analytics, reporting, business intelligence, advancement, higher education, nonprofit organizations, or related fields. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM/marketing platforms and familiarity with Tableau is a plus.  

Working Conditions 

This position requires clarity of focus while juggling multiple projects or deadlines with little physical effort. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines, support campaign launches, or accommodate stakeholder needs. 

Workplace Arrangements 

This is classified as an office-centric hybrid position. Colleagues working under an office-centric hybrid arrangement have a primary workstation at a University or Foundation location and are in the office between one and five days a week. The frequency with which they are present in the office depends on their role, function, and the interdependency of other functions. 

Compensation and Benefits
The position is budgeted for an annual salary of $70,000. In addition to salary, Rutgers University Foundation offers:
