Job Description - Assistant Director of Admission International Admission Specialist

The Assistant Director of Admission, International Admission Specialist is an early career admission professional, working under the
supervision of the Assistant Vice President for International Enrollment. This position helps create an
annual international recruitment and communication plan, travels throughout the world to meet
prospective students and families, uses data and trend analysis to shape recruitment priorities and
strategies, and helps to develop relationships with recruitment partners. This role includes
implementation of specialized recruitment strategies, collaboration with admission teammates,
territory management, developing and maintaining relationships with international organizations and
community contacts, interviewing prospective students, evaluating candidates for admission, and
coordinating targeted recruitment events. This role will serve as recruitment and enrollment
ambassador to schools and communities throughout the world and will exemplify DePauw’s efforts to
continually enroll a broadly diverse, bright, and talented class of students. The International Admission
Specialist will contribute to DePauw’s “uncommon commitment to the liberal arts” and the university
mission of “preparing the leaders that the world needs” by attracting and enrolling the next generation
of DePauw community members and graduates.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
● Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective international students and families.
● Cultivate relationships with high school counselors, agency partners, and government entities
to maintain strong relationships.
● Provide high-quality, student-oriented service and act as a front-line representative of DePauw
University for prospective international students and their families to answer questions,
address concerns, and share the story of the benefits of receiving a DePauw University
education.
● Assist with new international student orientation and other activities and events.
● Assist the Assistant Vice President with identifying and fostering new and existing markets for
prospective international students using data and trend analysis.
● Support prospective students and families at every stage of the enrollment process, from
inquiry through enrollment (application completion, enrollment deposit, academic scholarship
awards, financial aid, housing, registration, etc.) through targeted use of outgoing contact (via
email, telephone, Zoom and other communication methods).

● Serve as a Designated School Official for DePauw University in the U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services and help issue immigration documents for international students.
● Evaluate application credentials, assess transcripts for admission, and review international
undergraduate application documents for accuracy and completion.
● Maintain the inbound communications and coordinate response on a timely basis.
● Travel extensively, both internationally and domestically, to recruit international students.
● Understand and be prepared to clearly articulate DePauw University’s mission, benefits, key
features of all academic programs, campus life opportunities, campus amenities, scholarships,
and any other key points of interest to all prospective students, their families, and/or their
college search counselors or representatives.
● Lead and supervise international admission student interns by providing ongoing mentorship
and establishing clear weekly expectations.
● Assist with on-campus and weekend admission events for the Office of Admission.
● Complete other duties or special assignments as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.


Experience: 2 years of experience working in enrollment management, high school/college counseling environment, international education, or related field.


Communication/Language: Ability to effectively communicate and/or present information to top
management, peers, and public groups.


Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Computer Skills: Experience using a complex admission CRM, preferably Technolutions Slate;
experience working with spreadsheets and shared calendar systems.


Certificates & Licenses
Must possess a valid US driver's license, be willing to travel outside of the immediate area and work
after regular office hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.

● Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and oral skills.
● Must be comfortable speaking with and presenting to groups of students, parents, alumni and
school counselors.
● Must possess extraordinary organizational and multitasking skills, must be comfortable
traveling alone to new cities/countries, have a good sense of direction, and possess the ability
to navigate from location to location in unknown environments.
● Must be creative, must have the ability to come up with original thoughts, a high degree of
energy and the ability to work as a team member in an enrollment management setting.
