Assistant Grocery Manager

The Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Grocery Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient inventory management, and adherence to company merchandising and operational standards. This role assists in leading department associates, maintaining product availability, driving sales performance, and creating a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment.

• Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department.


• Ensure shelves, displays, and promotional areas are properly stocked and merchandised.


• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to maintain in-stock conditions.


• Support effective execution of sales programs, pricing updates, and promotional initiatives.


• Maintain department standards for cleanliness, organization, and product presentation.

• Support the Grocery Manager in supervising and developing department associates.


• Assist with training, coaching, and onboarding new team members.


• Provide ongoing feedback to improve associate performance and productivity.


• Promote teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence within the department.


• Serve as a department leader in the Grocery Manager's absence.

• Ensure customers receive prompt, friendly, and professional service.


• Resolve customer concerns and escalate issues when appropriate.


• Maintain a customer-focused culture that supports a positive shopping experience.


• Monitor department conditions to ensure product availability and ease of shopping.

• Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control processes.


• Monitor product movement and identify opportunities to improve sales and reduce shrink.


• Ensure proper rotation of merchandise and adherence to freshness standards.


• Verify pricing accuracy and promotional compliance.


• Support seasonal and special merchandising events.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, and merchandising standards.


• Promote workplace safety and maintain a safe shopping environment.


• Follow inventory management, receiving, and loss prevention procedures.


• Support preparation for audits, inspections, and operational reviews.

• Assist in achieving department sales, labor, and shrink goals.


• Support labor scheduling and productivity initiatives.


• Monitor departmental performance and recommend operational improvements.


• Help identify opportunities to increase sales and improve profitability.
