Join the Labor & Delivery team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where approximately 4,800 babies are delivered each year in a dynamic, high-acuity clinical environment. This role offers the opportunity to provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered care while supporting patients across the full spectrum of labor, delivery, and recovery experiences — from routine births to complex obstetric and medical cases.Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities
Oversee daily department operations, including patient flow, acuity, staffing, throughput, and clinical priorities within a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment.
Serve as a clinical resource and support for nursing staff, promoting safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Support implementation of nursing practice standards, competency development, and clinical practice updates.
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless coordination of care for laboring, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients.
Under the direction of the Nursing Director, support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, staffing, payroll, performance evaluations, and employee relations processes for nursing and support staff.
Participate in departmental quality, safety, and professional practice initiatives, including Faculty Hours and performance improvement efforts.
Provide day-to-day leadership and operational support to staff, including coaching, performance management, and involvement in employment-related processes as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
License Registered Nurse required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
Demonstrated Leadership
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Competencies
Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and relationship-building abilities, including coaching, conflict resolution, and staff support.
Broad clinical and operational knowledge with a commitment to patient safety, quality care, and service excellence.
Age-Based Competencies
Must be competent in caring for young adult, middle adult, and older adult patient populations.
Physical Requirements
Light physical work, including frequent movement throughout the hospital campus and the ability to move objects up to 20 pounds.
Pay Range:
$150,000.00 USD - $220,000.00 USDThe pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
