DescriptionJob Description:
Under direction, perform responsible engineering work in the operation and maintenance of a major wastewater treatment plant or pump stations.
Essential Functions:
Provide technical assistance in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, modernization and protection of physical facilities and equipment in a wastewater treatment plant or pump stations
Assist Division Manager in prioritizing major system modifications within overall District Capital Improvement plan
Coordinate multi disciplinary engineering activities such as contractual engineering services, facility design, equipment selection, procurement and construction
Prepare specification and plans for contracts, purchases of equipment and services
Oversee and supervise contractors
Use and maintain data in the computerized maintenance management system for equipment and buildings at a wastewater treatment plant or pump station facilities
Maintain records and prepare reports; perform reliability engineering and root cause failure analysis as directed
Perform process optimization and efficiency analysis for utilities, chemical usages, etc; assist in the preparation of the annual O&M budget.
Additional Responsibilities: May serve as Manager in his/her absence; performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering
Two (2) years of progressively responsible engineering experience in plant and/or pump station operations.
Desirable Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering
Considerable skill in the use of basic engineering tools including personal computers and making engineering computations
Considerable skill in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications
Considerable skill in analyzing and integrating data
Considerable skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with consultants and contractors
Considerable skill in maintaining records and preparing reports.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Licensed Engineer-In-Training in the State of Missouri.
Must possess valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
