Job Description - Assistant Plant Manager-Nights

JOB TITLE: Assistant Plant Manager – Forrester Road (Night Shift)

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Forrester Road Plant Manager

Job summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in overseeing/managing all aspects of plant operations with a focus on training and employee development. This will include coordinating orientation for new workers and training/evaluation for all hourly manufacturing employees. In addition, the position will act as the lead for planning and managing production Changeovers to ensure planned downtime goals are met and continuous improvement is achieved.

Job Duties:

Essential Functions:

Ensure all employees follow policies and procedures in accordance with Safety and Legal requirements.

Develop training programs and methods for all hourly employees to ensure appropriate knowledge.

Evaluates all hourly employees to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training.

Ensures training records are maintained and available.

Train new hires in company policies and procedures.

Expert understanding of inventory, production jobs, production schedules and able to identify inventory problems.

Mentors Production Supervisors and is an active part of their development plans.

Serves as backup for Production Supervisors upon request and/or scheduled PTO.

Authors procedures and work instructions to document Standard Work.

Completes the documentation, preparation, and delivery of employee discipline.

Expert understanding of all Manufacturing equipment and able to train all production employees.

Supervises all cleans and changeovers to ensure we meet stated timelines and sanitary standards.

Manages key projects as directed by the Plant Manager.

Education and Qualifications:

+5 years of leadership in a Manufacturing environment.

Proven track record of leadership and capable mentor.

Food Industry and HACCP/PCQI experience preferred.

Excellent interpersonal, computer and communications skills (both verbal and written).

Be a self-starter who works with a sense of urgency and acts as a good team player working with other disciplines.
