Assistant Professor, Epidemiology

The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Memphis (UofM) is seeking to hire a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Epidemiology to join our interdisciplinary, collaborative team of faculty. The position is in the Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Environmental Health.

Duties and responsibilities

• Teaching four (4) 3-credit hour courses (2 each semester) in areas of Epidemiology and related fields.
• Advising and mentoring graduate students.
• Seeking extramural grants to support investigator-led research activity in a collaborative environment with focus in one or more of the following areas: chronic diseases, aging, allergic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, mental health, rural health, health informatics and artificial intelligence, or genetics and epigenetics.
• Engaging in interdisciplinary work and community-based research, collaborating with faculty from public health, computer science, engineering, and related fields to advance SPH initiatives.
• Developing and maintaining an active research program and publication agenda with peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding.
• Serving on committees to further develop, support, and enhance the Division and the School of Public Health. 

Position Qualifications 

Candidates should have an earned doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field and experience commensurate with the academic rank of assistant professor. Candidates with a background and interest in research and teaching in chronic diseases, aging, allergic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, mental health, rural health, health informatics and artificial intelligence, or genetics and epigenetics, and have strong potential of securing extramural research funds, are especially encouraged to apply.
