Assistant Professor of Broadcast Journalism, Communication - College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Lipscomb University invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Communication. This position is integral to the strength of the department’s broadcast journalism focus. The successful candidate will teach a 10-month, 24-hour annual teaching load, with courses in News Reporting, Television Newscast, Sports Announcing & Production, Sports Promotion, and Sports Reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach 12 academic course hours per semester, including but not limited to News Reporting, Television Newscast, Sports Announcing & Production, Sports Promotion, and Sports Reporting related courses.


• Develop and update curriculum materials to reflect current industry standards and practices.

• Mentor and advise students on academic progress, career development, and capstone projects.


• Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program.


• Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations at professional conferences.


• Collaborate with colleagues to foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree in journalism or closely related field (M.A. required, Ph.D. preferred).


• Demonstrated professional experience in broadcast journalism.


• Comprehensive knowledge of the discipline of broadcast journalism.


• Commitment to integrating Christian faith and practice with academic excellence.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
