The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position in Spanish Linguistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 7, 2027. Salary is negotiable.
Conduct, present, and publish research and engage in other professional activities.
Teach courses primarily in Spanish for the Spanish program at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Collaborate, when appropriate, with the graduate programs in Applied Linguistics.
Participate actively in department, college, and university governance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Spanish Linguistics, Applied Linguistics (Spanish-language focus) or a closely related field by August 7, 2027. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Native or near-native command of Spanish. Excellent communication skills in English.
Active research agenda.
Experience teaching at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
A record of publication.
Research focus on the Caribbean and/or the Spanish-speaking world in the Western Hemisphere.
Demonstrated success in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.
