The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences seeks applicants for a 12-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging service. The successful candidate will join our current team of veterinary radiologists to provide high quality education and excellent clinical service, advanced knowledge relative to veterinary diagnostic imaging, and positively contribute to the profession.
This position is primarily (65%) a clinical service appointment in the Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging section of ERHS. Clinical duties include all modalities in small animal imaging (radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computed tomography, PET/CT and MRI), back-up for after-hours and holiday coverage, resident training and participation in resident graduate committees. Administrative services (e.g. chief of a particular imaging modality, etc. will be assigned as needed by the section. The position will also have a 30% teaching effort contributing to the delivery of the DVM curriculum and ERHS imaging courses. Teaching duties include didactic lectures, group rounds, practicum teaching rounds for 3rd and 4th year DVM students, and informal teaching activities. Research and scholarly activity will constitute 5% of the effort distribution for the position.
The VDI faculty collaborate with faculty at both the Colorado State University Flint Animal Cancer Center and the Johnson Family Equine Hospital, both located at the CSU South Medical Campus. Abundant diagnostic imaging resources include digital radiology, a fully integrated web-based PACS and RIS system with voice recognition software, 3 Toshiba Aplio units, 2 small animal radiology suites, a Phillips Veradius C-arm, nuclear medicine (including a 40 slice PET/CT scanner), a Siemens Somatom Force-Dual source 128 slice CT, a 1.5 Tesla GE Altea MRI scanner and a linear accelerator radiation therapy unit. A state-of the-art interventional suite/hybrid operating room is present in the VTH. A Siemens 64 slice CT and 3T MRI unit are also available in the adjacent Translational Medicine Institute. Equine imaging equipment and facilities are housed at the adjacent equine hospital.
