Job Description - Assistant Teacher

Position: Assistant Teacher (2 Full-Time Openings and 1 Part-Time Opening)


Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, including a 1-hour unpaid break and ideally, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM for Part-Time.



Key Responsibilities



  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children through active supervision.

  • Support daily routines, including meals, rest time, hygiene, and classroom transitions.

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate learning activities and lesson plans.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom that encourages children's independence and development.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging learning environment.

  • Use positive guidance techniques to encourage appropriate behavior.

  • Build professional, respectful relationships with children, families, and team members.

  • Follow all Virginia licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and center policies.

  • Assist with attendance, classroom documentation, and other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Participate in required training and ongoing professional development.



Qualifications



  • Meet Virginia child care licensing requirements for Assistant Teachers.

  • Previous experience in a childcare, preschool, or early childhood setting is preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Commitment to providing high-quality care and early childhood education.

Experience



  • working with children in a childcare, preschool, or ECE: 1 year (Preferred)
