The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) invites applications for Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in a discipline offered within the COAS and be eligible for appointment at the rank of tenured full professor. The successful candidate will have also served as Principal Investigator and has managed a portfolio of external grants.  The Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs is responsible for managing Teaching Assistantships, graduate student funding, and infrastructure for promoting and overseeing external funding, which exists to support and promote faculty research. Reporting to the Associate Dean are several staff members.

The Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs will provide college-level leadership in managing and overseeing externally funded research for all 17 academic departments and anticipated new research centers. The Associate Dean also liaises with the University’s Office of Research. The Office coordinates important events including the COAS Grants Academy and recurring meetings with faculty researchers. The Office also engages in ongoing data collection, analysis, reporting, and making recommendations to the Dean.

The University is situated on a residential campus of over 14,000 students located in the heart of the nation’s capital, Washington, DC.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution;
  • Record of successful administrative experience in the area of external funding;
  • Record of scholarship, teaching, and professional service commensurate with the rank of tenured full professor; and
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
