The Associate Dean of Medical Education supports and in the oversight and administration of the undergraduate medical education program at the School of Medicine (SOM). This role fills in as needed and required in curricular, institutional, and resource allocation matters. This role partners with others to develop and implement innovative programs within the curriculum that move the SOM towards its vision and goals. This role¿s primary area of responsibility is the Clinical Education longitudinal program, and is responsible for curriculum management and oversight of program implementation, outcomes assessment, use of appropriate pedagogies, and faculty development. Additionally, this role is responsible for oversight of integration of Clinical Education with other curricular phases as well as overall longitudinal integration throughout the curriculum.

Responsibilities






A day in the life of a Associate Dean of Medical Education at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Stands-in as needed for the Vice Dean in curricular, institutional, and resource allocation matters.
  • Leads the team of faculty and staff to implement the clinical curriculum education program.
  • Creates strategic vision and goals for the Clinical Skills curriculum and the overall curricular components in conjunction with the Vice Dean.
  • Oversees the development, implementation and enhancement of clinical education of the undergraduate medical education program. 
  • Participates in the curriculum management plan to ensure the SOM meets its intended outcomes
  • Works with the instructional design team and faculty to implement pedagogical methods that achieve the vision and goals.
  • Leads and participates in leadership and oversight teams of the educational program to ensure the curriculum is meeting its intended outcomes, including longitudinal integration across the curriculum.
  • Oversees the development and integration of a developmental and integrated medical school curriculum.
  • Works with the administrative team to ensure that curriculum is developed and implemented in a coordinated manner that achieves the goals.
  • Interfaces with faculty and staff to ensure success of students in the curriculum.
  • Participates in accreditation and licensure activities as assigned.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.








Qualifications






Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

 
  • ​M.D, or D.O.
  • Minimum of 10 or more years of experience in a medical education role.
  • Expert knowledge of undergraduate medical education, including curriculum building/revision, use of various pedagogies, curriculum management, outcomes assessment, faculty development and management
  • Expertise in competency based medical education and outcomes assessment
  • Experience with accreditation, including LCME, MSCHE, state and local agencies
  • Excellent, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience working at a School of Medicine.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

 

  • Eligible for licensure to practice Medicine in the State of NJ

Starting Minimum Rate






Minimum rate of $258,273.60 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
