The role requires cross-functional flexibility and creative deal support across multiple verticals that operate as an interconnected ecosystem.

The team supports agreements spanning music licensing, talent, creative partnerships, marketing collaborations, sponsorships, content production and distribution, procurement, vendors and apparel, SaaS and technology, manufacturing, transportation and logistics, and other commercial transactions.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Translate complex legal and commercial issues into clear recommendations and practical paths forward.

  • Counsel the business on content expansion, creative partnerships, and commercial initiatives designed to reach new Members and partners.

  • Advise client stakeholders on the legal approach to the responsible use of AI across content, marketing, and commercial workflows, including AI-enabled tools, generated content, claims, personalization, and vendor arrangements.

  • Balance legal and business risk with commercial objectives, agility, creativity, and a proactive focus on delivery.

Content, Music, and Business Affairs

  • Lead transactions involving content development, production, distribution, music licensing, talent, creative partnerships, media, and sponsorships.

  • Lead music licensing strategy and dealmaking with record labels, music publishers, performing rights organizations, and other rights holders, covering master, sync, reproduction, and public performance rights.

  • Advise Content leaders on expanding Peloton’s original content offerings and developing partnerships with new content partners.

  • Develop and implement rights-management and exploitation strategies for Peloton and third-party content, including music, talent, and other creative assets.

  • Oversee rights clearance, content standards, approvals, risk escalation, deal tracking, royalty reporting, renewals, audits, compliance, and talent-rights administration.

  • Advise on the strategic use and distribution of Peloton and third-party content within and, where appropriate, outside Peloton’s service offerings.

Marketing, Advertising, and Brand

  • Advise Marketing, Brand, and Creative teams on brand and product campaigns, customer acquisition, advertising and sales technologies, promotions, Member communications, and marketing collaborations.

  • Counsel teams on advertising disclosures, influencer and endorsement arrangements, pricing and promotions, subscription and auto-renewal practices, product placements, and media buys.

  • Manage advertising and consumer-protection risk, including FTC, NAD, and state-law matters.

  • Help develop creative, commercially effective solutions that protect Peloton’s brand and support responsible engagement with Members and consumers.

Commercial Transactions and Global Operations

  • Lead and oversee complex third-party agreements supporting Peloton’s global operations and commercial activities.

  • Oversee direct and indirect procurement, including hardware, components, materials, services, facilities, professional services, strategic sourcing, supplier onboarding, master services agreements, statements of work, and purchase terms.

  • Oversee vendor and apparel agreements covering design, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, distribution, fulfillment, sales, and rentals.

  • Oversee manufacturing, transportation, logistics, warehousing, delivery, repair, service, distribution models, and other supply-chain relationships across relevant markets.

  • Advise on SaaS, technology-enabled services, data, and other enterprise agreements in partnership with Technology, Privacy, Security, and Intellectual Property specialists.

  • Develop practical deal structures, playbooks, approval processes, templates, and contracting standards that enable the business to move efficiently while managing risk.

Team Leadership and Performance

  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain a small team of legal professionals.

  • Set clear priorities and expectations; allocate resources; establish effective operating rhythms; and hold team members accountable for quality, judgment, responsiveness, and results.

  • Drive excellence in written work, deal execution, and stakeholder partnership.

  • Provide direct, strategic guidance on complex matters and ensure the right balance of delegation, oversight, and escalation.

  • Build strong partnerships across Legal, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, Logistics, Marketing, Content, Music, Brand, Product, and Technology.

  • Improve contracting workflows, knowledge management, reporting, escalation, and legal support models.

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • 15+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant in-house experience or senior law firm experience supporting a global consumer, technology, media, entertainment, or other complex operating business.

  • Significant experience negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements.

  • Significant experience with content development, production, and distribution, including music licensing, talent agreements, creative partnerships, and sponsorships.

  • Strong command of advertising and consumer-protection laws.

  • Experience supporting a subscription, platform, digital media, retail, hardware, or other consumer-facing business; global experience strongly preferred.

  • An engaged leader who directly handles complex matters while empowering and mentoring team members to deliver high-quality work.

  • Proven experience building, managing, coaching, and motivating legal professionals, including setting expectations, giving candid feedback, and driving accountability.

  • Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence from the individual-contributor level through the C-suite.

  • Practical, solutions-oriented judgment and the ability to prioritize multiple high-impact matters in a fast-paced environment.

  • Member in good standing of the New York State Bar or of another U.S. state bar and eligible to register as in-house counsel in New York.
