Description

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a full-time Associate Hospital Epidemiologist and Infectious Diseases Physician to support infection prevention, hospital epidemiology, and inpatient infectious diseases consult services at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West.

This faculty position offers the opportunity to contribute to patient care, education, research, and quality improvement within a collaborative academic health system.

 



Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient Infectious Diseases consultative care and teach fellows, residents, medical students, and pharmacy students (approximately 50% clinical effort). 
  • Partner with the Hospital Epidemiologist and Infection Prevention leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention programs and policies. 
  • Lead surveillance, outbreak investigations, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with public health agencies. 
  • Advise hospital leadership on infection prevention, patient safety, quality, and emergency preparedness. 
  • Support research, performance improvement initiatives, and regional/national collaborative projects. 
  • Participate in Infection Prevention Committee leadership and Infection Prevention call coverage. 
  • Collaborate across departments—including Employee Health, Clinical Laboratory, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, and health system epidemiology teams—to strengthen infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship efforts. 
  • Contribute to infection prevention education and emergency response planning. 

 



Qualifications
  • MD or equivalent from an accredited institution. 
  • Board Certified in Infectious Diseases. 
  • Eligible for or licensed to practice medicine in New York. 
  • Experience in adult Infectious Diseases; expertise in infection prevention and/or antimicrobial stewardship preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of academic teaching experience (residency/fellowship level). 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Epic experience preferred. 

 

Compensation range from 250K to 350K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits).

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
