Association Director, USSGA & FSGA

Job Description - Association Director, USSGA & FSGA

U.S. Seniors' Golf Association & Father and Son Golf Association

Administered by the Metropolitan Golf Association

MGA title: Senior Client Administrator, USSGA & FSGA

Scope: USSGA, including the USSGA Foundation/Memorial Fund (approx. 90%) · FSGA (approx. 10%)

Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer, MGA

Compensation: $75,000 – $90,000 base salary, plus eligibility for an annual bonus

THE ROLE

The Association Director is the senior staff lead for two of golf's most storied associations: the U.S. Seniors' Golf Association, founded in 1905, and the Father and Son Golf Association, founded in 1915. Working alongside distinguished volunteer officers, the Board of Governors, and committee chairs, this person is the association's first point of contact for members and the steward of its championships, membership, publications, records, and governance.

At the MGA, the position is titled Senior Client Administrator, USSGA & FSGA. The role suits an accomplished professional who takes pride in running things well, works independently, and leads a small team. The championship calendar gives the year a seasonal rhythm: member service and event execution in-season, and the Yearbook, membership cycle, and process improvement in the offseason.

The successful candidate will begin with an extended shadowing period, working alongside the current, long-serving incumbent to learn the associations, their members and volunteer leaders, and the full annual cycle firsthand.

WHAT YOU WILL LEAD

Tournament & Championship Administration (20%)

  • Own the Annual Tournament end to end — contracts, registration, pairings, payments, prizes, event materials, and on-site operations

  • Administer events in Golf Genius and oversee posting of results and photography to the association websites

Yearbook & Publications (20%)

  • Produce the annual USSGA Yearbook — content, proofing, print vendors, budget, and distribution — along with newsletters and other publications

  • Maintain the historical record of champions, results, and association milestones

Member Service (15%)

  • Serve as the primary contact for members, officers, Board members, and committee chairs, resolving issues independently and escalating only when needed

Team Leadership (10%)

  • Lead the two-person USSGA/FSGA team — setting priorities, allocating work across the championship calendar, coaching, and contributing to annual reviews with the CAO

Membership Administration (10%)

  • Own the dues and initiation cycle, the candidate process, new-member onboarding, status changes, and member records

Governance & Board Support (10%)

  • Prepare materials for the Annual Meeting and Board of Governors meetings and prepare the annual budget

Special Events & Invitationals (5%)

  • Support Special Events run through the USSGA, and serve as a staff resource to the Invitational Tournaments, which are run by their own chairs and committees

Records & Communications (5%)

  • Draft association communications and correspondence, including necrology and sympathy letters, and maintain event archives

Office Administration & Finance (5%)

  • Handle day-to-day banking, bill payment, and reconciliation for both associations under the oversight of the MGA CFO

  • Oversee the USSGA Foundation/Memorial Fund annual appeals, and log, report, and acknowledge all contributions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in association, club, event, member services, or operations management

  • Experience owning an event or tournament cycle end to end, including registration, logistics, vendor negotiation, and on-site execution

  • Experience working directly with volunteer officers, a board, and committee chairs

  • Experience supervising staff — assigning work, setting priorities, and giving performance feedback

  • Working knowledge of golf — the game, handicapping, championship formats, and club culture

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and comfort with web content and mass-communication tools; basic Golf Genius proficiency or the ability to learn it (training provided)

Preferred

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience

  • Experience producing an annual print publication and managing membership, dues, and records

  • Familiarity with HubSpot or a comparable CRM and QuickBooks or similar tools

What sets the right person apart

  • Polish, poise, and credibility with senior members, officers, and host clubs

  • Meticulous accuracy in rosters, records, results, and finances

  • Self-direction — sets priorities and drives deadlines without being managed to them

  • A leader who develops people and delegates deliberately

We encourage you to apply even if you don't have experience with every item listed here. If your background fits much of this role, we'd like to hear from you.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid schedule based at the MGA offices in Elmsford, NY

  • Travel to event and meeting sites, including the multi-day Annual Tournament and occasionally a Special Event; valid driver's license and reliable vehicle access required

  • Several evenings during the Annual Tournament and for meetings as needed; extended time on foot outdoors on Annual tournament days

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $75,000 – $90,000 base salary, plus eligibility for an annual bonus

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Life insurance and 401(k) with employer profit-sharing contribution

  • PTO and paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's

Employment is contingent on a successful background check. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

FSGA. Founded in 1915 as the Pater et Filius Golf Association, the Father and Son Golf Association holds an annual alternate-shot tournament for fathers and sons, now rotating among leading Metropolitan Area clubs. Membership is by invitation of the Board of Governors.

MGA. Founded in 1897, the Metropolitan Golf Association is one of the nation's oldest and largest amateur golf associations, serving 550+ member clubs and 193,000 members across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The MGA provides handicapping, course rating, championships, and full administrative support to allied golf organizations.
