Autistic Support Special Education Aide


Carnegie, Pennsylvania | $25–$30/hour


Some students need more than academic support. They need someone patient and dependable who can help them communicate, build life skills, navigate challenges, and become more independent.


In this role, your support can make a meaningful difference in a student’s everyday school experience. You’ll work alongside special education teachers to provide individualized support based on each student’s IEP, behavior plan, communication needs, and daily living goals.

What You’ll Do


• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students
• Follow IEP-directed academic and behavioral supports
• Help students develop communication, social, self-help, and daily living skills
• Assist with toileting, hygiene, and personal-care needs when required
• Implement behavior and positive-support strategies under teacher direction
• Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and throughout the school day
• Respond appropriately to behavioral or crisis situations according to established protocols
• Provide active supervision and physical assistance when needed
• Collaborate with teachers, special education professionals, and related service providers
• Maintain student confidentiality and complete required documentation


What You’ll Bring


• High school diploma
• Ability to provide personal-care assistance, including toileting and hygiene
• Ability to follow IEP-directed supports and behavioral plans
• Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations
• Ability to provide physical assistance and lift approximately 40 pounds when required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills


Experience supporting students or individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or life-skills needs is strongly preferred.
