Automotive Parts Manager- Toyota/Lexus

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Parts Manager to lead the Parts Department for a high-volume, dual Toyota and Lexus dealership operation. We are looking for a hands-on leader who combines strong automotive parts knowledge with exceptional leadership and team-building skills. The ideal candidate understands that a successful Parts Department requires accurate inventory, disciplined processes, strong retail and wholesale performance, financial accountability, and a well-trained team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, train, and develop the Parts Department team.
• Build a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee daily parts operations for both Toyota and Lexus.
• Manage inventory levels, stocking procedures, source controls, ordering, receiving, returns, and special orders.
• Maintain accurate bin locations and bin inventory and establish regular cycle-count procedures.
• Monitor inventory turns, fill rates, lost sales, emergency purchases, and other key performance indicators.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of parts obsolescence, including aging inventory, manufacturer return programs, and strategies to reduce and prevent obsolete inventory.
• Review aging and non-moving inventory and develop action plans to improve inventory health.
• Have the knowledge and experience to plan, organize, and conduct a complete physical parts inventory.
• Research and resolve inventory discrepancies and implement processes to prevent future variances.
• Work closely with Service to ensure technicians receive the correct parts efficiently and minimize repair delays.
• Partner with Sales and Reconditioning to support new- and pre-owned vehicle operations.
• Work with Accounting to maintain accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation.
• Manage departmental gross profit, expenses, personnel costs, inventory investment, and overall profitability.
• Ensure compliance with Toyota and Lexus policies, procedures, and manufacturer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and efficient Parts Department.

Wholesale Parts Sales

• Take ownership of the dealership’s wholesale parts operation, including sales, profitability, customer relationships, and growth.
• Develop and execute strategies to grow wholesale parts sales and gross profit.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with collision centers, independent repair facilities, fleets, and other wholesale customers.
• Ensure competitive and profitable wholesale pricing while protecting departmental margins.
• Monitor wholesale sales performance, gross profit, customer activity, and lost business.
• Identify opportunities to acquire new wholesale accounts and increase business with existing customers.
• Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment, delivery, invoicing, returns, and credits.
• Establish accountability and performance expectations for employees involved in wholesale sales and delivery.
• Ensure wholesale growth does not negatively impact inventory health, availability, or departmental profitability.

Experience:

• Automotive Parts Management: Required
• Toyota/Lexus Parts Experience: Preferred
• Wholesale Automotive Parts: Preferred

Qualifications

• Previous automotive dealership Parts Manager experience required.
• Toyota and/or Lexus experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing and growing an automotive wholesale parts operation strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of dealership parts operations and manufacturer processes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of obsolescence management, stocking procedures, bin inventory, cycle counts, and inventory controls.
• Must be able to prepare for and successfully conduct a full physical parts inventory.
• Strong understanding of Parts Department financial statements, gross profit, inventory investment, wholesale profitability, and expense management.
• Proven ability to lead, train, develop, and hold employees accountable.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Service, Sales, Reconditioning, Accounting, and dealership leadership.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet dealership driving requirements.

What Success Looks Like

Our Parts Manager will be expected to maintain an accurate and well-organized inventory, effectively control obsolescence, improve parts availability, grow a profitable wholesale parts business, support Service Department productivity, achieve departmental financial goals, and build and develop a strong Parts team.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable both leading people and being hands-on in the operation. The right candidate should be able to walk the Parts Department, identify inventory and process issues, develop solutions, understand the wholesale market, and lead the team through implementation.
