Automotive Touch-up Technician with Buffing Experience

The Automotive Touch-up Technician with Buffing Experience is responsible for inspecting and repairing minor imperfections on the exterior paint surface for various types of vehicles as well as using buffing techniques to produce the desire results. The technician will provide excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, an understanding of minor paint touch-up systems and buffing knowledge. The Automotive Touch-up Technician with Buffing Experience will also perform a-la-carte work.

Duties and responsibilities

Inspect and Diagnose: Examine vehicle exterior for wear, minor paint damage, and potential issues.

Repairs: Perform touch-up repairs on damaged exteriors utilizing available tools and paint products.

Preparation and Finish: Clean and prep exterior areas, sand and buff, paint touch-up, and conduct quality checks to ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards.

Customer Service: Communicate effectively with team members/customers regarding the vehicle's condition and provide clear explanations for recommended services.

Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Documentation: Record all services provided, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, in the shop's system or service tickets.

Qualifications

Education/Other:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Valid driver’s license required.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be eligible for work in the United States.

Experience:

One year of previous experience as an automotive touch-up technician with buffing experience is required.

Skills:

Knowledge of automotive exterior surfaces and paint materials.

Familiarity with various paint products and techniques.

Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and painting machines.

Knowledge and proficiency using a buffer to obtain desired results.

Attention to detail and precision in repair work.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and automotive chemicals.

Exposure to adhesives, solvents and other chemicals.

May require standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects.
