Backend Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: $160,000 – $220,000 base + equity (0.1%–0.3%)

Position Overview

An innovative, AI-driven technology organization is seeking a Backend Engineer to help build the next generation of real-time, intelligent user research platforms. This role focuses on developing scalable backend systems that support advanced voice-to-voice interactions, real-time data streaming, and AI-powered insights.

The ideal candidate is highly technical, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is comfortable owning projects end-to-end—from concept through production deployment. This is a high-impact opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and directly influence product and technical strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with executive leadership on technical strategy and product direction
• Design, develop, and optimize backend services, APIs, and data processing systems
• Build and maintain real-time data streaming infrastructure
• Contribute to the development and improvement of in-house AI/LLM-based systems
• Lead engineering projects from initial concept through deployment and scaling
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability in production environments
• Engage with users to gather feedback and continuously improve product functionality

Required Qualifications

• 3–10 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend systems
• Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade applications
• Strong proficiency in backend development using Python and frameworks such as Django
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
• Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and deliver end-to-end solutions
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with real-time data streaming or distributed systems
• Familiarity with WebRTC or real-time communication technologies
• Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Prior experience in startup or high-growth environments

Work Environment

• On-site role with an expectation of approximately 80–100% in-office حضور
