JOB SUMMARY

The Bakery Dishwasher / Delivery Driver plays a key role in supporting bakery operations by maintaining cleanliness and coordinating product deliveries between locations. This position is primarily responsible for dishwashing, sanitation, and assigned delivery routes, while also assisting the bakery team with basic preparation and support tasks as needed. 

This role helps ensure the bakery runs efficiently by maintaining organized workspaces, supporting production flow, and delivering products safely and reliably. It also serves as an entry point for developing foundational bakery skills and cross-training into production roles.

Reports To: Bakery Department Managers.

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, $19.67 to $23.36

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sanitation & Delivery

  • Wash dishes and bakery equipment; clean and sanitize bakery areas, including floors and appliances
  • Own dishwashing and sanitation processes, ensuring all equipment and workspaces meet cleanliness standards
  • Complete assigned delivery shifts using a Co-op vehicle, transporting baked goods and other items—including, but not limited to, meat products, inter-store mail, and departmental materials—between locations, ensuring accurate, safe, and timely delivery
  • Load, unload, and handle products carefully to maintain quality and accuracy

Bakery Support

  • Package, label, and assemble bakery products for delivery
  • Assist with ingredient preparation, including measuring, mixing, and shaping items such as cookies or truffles
  • Support bakers with prep and basic production tasks as directed
  • Help maintain production flow by preparing materials and keeping workstations stocked

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow safety and cleanliness protocols to meet sanitation standards
  • Prevent cross-contamination by adhering to allergen safety protocols
  • Maintain safe driving practices and follow all delivery procedures
  • Follow all workplace safety and food safety standards

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with bakery team members to complete daily tasks and ensure smooth operations
  • Take direction and shift between tasks as needed to support team priorities
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding issues, concerns, or opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment

General Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, friendly customer service to customers, coworkers, and vendors
  • Support overall bakery operations by assisting with additional tasks as needed
  • Follow direction and adapt to changing priorities to ensure daily work is completed effectively
  • Maintain reliable attendance to support team operations

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Friendly, in-person customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Ability to learn and follow Co-op Bakery procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to package food products with consistency and care
  • Ability to follow workplace safety, sanitation, and food safety procedures. 
  • Current Washington State Food Handler’s Card (or ability to obtain and maintain). 
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle as part of assigned job duties.
  • Knowledge of natural and organic foods (preferred). 
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work in moderate to loud noise environments (e.g., machinery, voices, music). 
  • Perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, twisting, and repetitive motion. 
  • Ability to work in wet environments and around cleaning chemicals.
  • Lift up to 60 pounds and push/pull carts up to 100 pounds. 
  • Safely operate bakery equipment, including mixers, dishwashers, and other tools. 
  • Safely operate and drive a delivery vehicle, including frequent entry/exit and loading/unloading. 
  • Handle and transport a variety of products while maintaining safety and quality standards.
