Position Summary
The Banquet House Attendant plays an essential role in the successful execution of banquet events at Beacon Grand. This position is responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and breakdown of banquet rooms and event spaces, ensuring all functions are completed efficiently, safely, and to the hotel’s luxury service standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, physically capable, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting a seamless guest experience.
Essential Functions
- Set up banquet rooms and event spaces according to event orders and departmental standards, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, staging, buffet stations, and other event equipment.
- Ensure all banquet spaces are arranged accurately and attractively prior to each event.
- Assist with event operations by supporting banquet servers and staff as needed to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
- Break down banquet rooms and event spaces following events, including removal of tables, chairs, linens, décor, and equipment.
- Collect, sort, organize, and properly store banquet supplies, linens, glassware, dishware, and equipment after events.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and banquet equipment in accordance with hotel standards and health regulations.
- Transport banquet equipment, tables, chairs, food containers, and service items safely throughout the property.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet storage areas, service stations, dish areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Adhere to all health, safety, sanitation, and proper lifting procedures at all times.
- Support the banquet team with additional operational duties as assigned to ensure the successful execution of all events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced banquet and events environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow room diagrams, event orders, and supervisor instructions.
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods and move throughout the property during shifts.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, squat, push, pull, and lift safely and repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry chairs, tables, trays, cases, and other banquet equipment, often weighing 25–50 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining clean, orderly work areas.
- Professional demeanor and willingness to support both guests and team members as needed.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- Previous banquet, food and beverage, houseperson, or event set-up experience strongly preferred.
- Luxury or upper-upscale hotel experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more per shift.
- Frequent bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 25 pounds and safely move up to 50 pounds or more with proper equipment or assistance.
- Must be comfortable moving tables, stacking chairs, transporting banquet equipment, and working in active event environments.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced banquet and hospitality environment with frequent interaction with guests, team members, and event operations staff.
- Work may take place in banquet rooms, ballrooms, storage areas, kitchens, service corridors, and other hotel event spaces.
- Position may require long hours based on business demands and event schedules.
