POSITION: Banquet Server STATUS: Part-Time/Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage REPORTS TO: Director of Catering POSITION CONCEPT: To serve the Mission, Vision and Values of REH, Inc. by providing excellent food service to banquet guests and assisting in preparation and clean‐up of event space. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with table and banquet hall prep before the event.
- Assist with food/buffet preparation before and during the event.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the menu and buffet items and specials.
- Ensure safe food handling guidelines are followed by self and team members.
- Arrange food on serving trays in an aesthetic manner.
- Deliver food from the kitchen and/or prep area to the banquet hall in a timely manner.
- Serve appetizers and plated dinners to guests.
- Serve both alcoholic and non‐alcoholic beverages.
- Refill water glasses.
- Take customer questions and/or requests, assist in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Keep the work area clean and sufficiently stocked.
- Assist with post‐event clean up, inventory, food storage, and tear down.
- Work as a member of a team, communicate with staff members and supervisors to ensure an efficient work ethic and overall guest satisfaction.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED and experience working in a food handling position is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year customer service experience.
- 2+ years of verifiable high-volume restaurant, fine dining, catering, country club or hotel experience.
DEMONSTRATED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
- Excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Set-up and break down, as well as lifting/carrying heavy trays.
- Knowledge of fine dining and proper table set up.
- Experience clearing and serving plated meals.
- Working knowledge of POS system and all equipment in the concessions area.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for periods of time.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
OTHER:
- Ability to maintain good attendance is a condition of employment and a function of this position.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
