We are seeking a Banquet Server to join our Food & Beverage team. This position plays an important role in creating exceptional events through attentive service, professionalism, and genuine hospitality.
Position Summary
The Banquet Server is responsible for the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet and catered events, including weddings, corporate meetings, receptions, social events, and special functions. This position works closely with Banquet, Culinary, and Event Management teams to ensure each event is executed according to established standards and event specifications.
The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, professional, and welcoming service during banquet and catered events.
- Set banquet rooms, tables, service stations, and event spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event specifications.
- Serve plated meals, buffets, hors d'oeuvres, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and other food and beverage offerings professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain knowledge of event menus, service expectations, timelines, and special guest requirements.
- Refill beverages, clear tables, and respond promptly to guest requests throughout events.
- Monitor guest needs and communicate service opportunities or concerns to banquet leadership.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked banquet and service areas before, during, and after events.
- Assist with event breakdown, resetting rooms, and properly storing furniture, equipment, linens, and service items.
- Communicate effectively with Culinary, Event Management, Banquet leadership, and fellow associates to ensure seamless event execution.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and hotel procedures.
- Maintain a polished and professional appearance throughout each event.
- Support other Food & Beverage operations as business needs require.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong communication and guest service skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, professional, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to obtain required Kansas City, Missouri food and beverage permits within applicable timeframes.
Preferred:
- Previous banquet, restaurant, catering, hotel, or hospitality experience.
- Previous experience serving plated meals, buffets, receptions, or large events.
- Knowledge of banquet service standards and proper food and beverage service techniques.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require.
- Event schedules and shift lengths may vary based on banquet and catering business.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
- The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
